Exciting Night at Gas City Speedway

TQ Sprints put on a show

GAS CITY, IN.- The Gas City (I-69) Speedway welcomed the UMRA TQ Sprints to town this past Friday, July 17th. Along with the TQ Sprints, the speedway featured an exciting feature from the UMP Modified division, along with racing from UMP Street Stocks and Thunder Cars.

No. 19 Brent Turner (Fortville, IN.) won the UMRA TQ Sprint feature, his third feature win of the season. After the victory, Turner said, "The win was good. I'm going for the Championship this season, and this win helps our run." Following Turner in second was No. 26 Barry Walton, while #35 Terry Goff took third place honors.

Bloomington racer NO. 7R Kent Robinson took the checkered flag, winning an exciting UMP Modified feature. "It feels awesome to win. Last time I was here, we wrecked. This time we came back and won," said Robinson. Wheatfield native Steve Hughes beat out Scotty Orr for the second place finish. Orr finished the night in third.

The No. 35 UMP Street Stock of James Headley made it's way to victory lane, winning the UMP Street Stock feature. Shane Landis raced his No. 11 Street Stock to a strong second place finish, while Bruce McGill took a third place showing in his No. 27 UMP Street Stock.

Mike Frederick started on pole for the Thunder Car finale, and stayed there, taking the feature victory in his No. 63 Thunder Car. Behind Frederick in second was the No. 9X of Corey Johnson. Third belonged to No. 66 David Clark.

Next Friday, July 24, the Gas City (I-69) Speedway welcomes the Nonwing Sprints to town. Along with the Nonwing Sprints, the UMP Modified and Street Stocks will be on showcase, along with Thunder Cars.
