Clauson Wins a Last Lap Thriller at Gas City Speedway

GAS CITY, IN.-Noblesville racer Bryan Clauson (Left) took the No. 11 Jeff Walker Racing Sprint car to victory lane, winning the 25 lap feature at Gas City (I-69) Speedway on Friday night. Clauson also took the checkers at ORP on Thursday night. About the two big victories, Clauson said, "It's pretty cool to win at two completely different venues. Three racers had the lead on the last lap. It felt great to win tonight."

Feature polesitter No. 29W Cole Whitt was up front most of the night. Whitt finished the night in second, while Gas City Speedway points leader and Kokomo native No. 10E Shane Cottle came home with a top three, finishing third.

In the UMP Late Modified feature, No. 1 Mark Fowler (Marion, IN.) collected his first feature win. On winning his first UMP Late Modified feature, Fowler said, "It feels amazing to win. This is my first feature. I would like to thank Joe LaFontaine, and the crew for all their help."

No. 20x Steve Hughes had another great run, finishing the night in second, while Marion racer No. 88 Scott Orr took third place honors.

In UMP Street Stock action, Ervin Turner had another impressive run, winning the feature in his No. 1T street stock machine. After Turner was the No. 1N of Caleb Nutter in second, while No. 19D Rob Draper worked his way from the back to finish with a top three finish in third.

No. 12X Josh Owens won the Thunder Car feature. After Owens was No. 63 Mike Frederick in second, No. 44 Dave Fritz in third, No. 11 Pete Thompson in fourth, and rounding out the top five finishers in the Thunder Car feature was No. 68 Trenten Vogts.

The Gas City (I-69) Speedway returns to action next Friday, July 31st, with the running of Non Wing Sprints, UMP Late Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, and Thunder Cars. All the racing action starts around 7 p.m.
