PERU, IN.- A rain shower couldn't dampen the spirits of race fans and drivers alike, as Miami County Speedway hosted another memorable night of micro sprint racing last Thursday, during the 2011 Miami County Fair Race festivities.
Hot laps and heat races were run with heavy cloud cover. Then an hour delay, set up for a fast track, as Miami County Speedway raced up until the 11:30 PM curfew, running four out of the five features last Thursday night.
The first feature of the night came from the always exciting Junior Class. Royal Center, IN. racer Garrett Jameson (Pictured Left) collected his first feature win of his young career on Thursday night. "It feels awesome to finally get a feature win. This is really sweet," Jameson explained after he took his first checkered flag.
Jadon Rogers took second place honors, while Kokomo, IN.'s Jared Van Ness put together another solid feature run to finish third. Denver, IN. racer Seth Ireland ended the night with a fourth place finish, while Jacob Bigger took the final top five spot in the 20 lap Junior Class A-Main.
Camden, IN. native Chris Miller (Pictured Right) returned to victory lane, winning Thursday's 20 lap Nonwing A-Main. "It felt great to come back to MCS and win this big Non Wing feature. This is my first feature win in my Hyper Chassis," Miller said.
Delphi, IN.'s Matt Johnson took second place, while Westfield, IN. racer Stephanie Mockler returned to Miami County Speedway, racing a Parker Price Miller Motorsports Non Wing entry to a strong third place showing. Mentone, IN. native Sam Kimmel raced his way through the field to pick up a fourth place finish. Kokomo, IN. racer Parker Price Miller rounded out the top five finishers in the Non Wing finale.
Fort Wayne, IN. racer Dakota Busche (Pictured Left) swept the night, winning both the second Restrictor heat race and the A-Main. After his big night of racing Busche said, "It felt great to come win again at MCS. We won up at Jackson, Michigan, but this is our first feature win in Indiana. I wanted to let everyone know that my Restrictor race car is for sale," Busche explained. If anyone is interested, you can call the Busches at (260) 341-1754.
Kokomo, IN. natives Deavan Bolton and Dalton Walker took second and third respectively in Thursday's Restrictor A-Main. Callie Wolstiffer turned in another solid showing, finished fourth, while fifth belonged to Hallie Feuquay.
The fourth feature came in the Senior A-Main. Logansport, IN. racer Dennis Corcoran (Pictured Right) raced the #22C Senior Non Wing to a second consecutive checkered flag in the Miami County Fair Race last Thursday night. "This is the second straight Fair Race win for us. My brother Tommy Corcoran raced the #22C to the Senior A-Main in last year's Miami County Fair Race. It feels great to double up like this. We have been really fast here at Miami County Speedway," Corcoran explained.
The fifth feature wasn't run, because of the 11:30 PM curfew. The Wing feature will be made up on Saturday, July 9th.
Next Saturday, July 2nd will be a very busy, but awesome night for Miami County Speedway. MCS will race both the Senior and Non Wing A-Mains from the June 11th rain out. MCS will begin racing an hour earlier than usual. Along with the two feature make ups, MCS will be racing the always exciting five feature A-Main micro sprint racing program.
The pits will be opening at 1:30 PM, with the driver draws closing at 3:45 PM. Racing will start at 5:30 PM. Kinsler Brothers Share Special Night at MCS
Culp captures the Wing Class Special

PERU, IN.- Another cloudly cool Indiana Saturday, set up for another awesome night of micro sprint racing action at Miami County Speedway. MCS hosted their Wing Class Special on Saturday night, which paid an additional $100.00 to the winner's purse of Saturday's Wing Class A-Main. The Restrictor Class raced Non Wing on Saturday night.
The action kicked off with a pair of 12 lap B-Mains in both the Wing and Non Wing Classes. Logansport racer Ryan Leek won the first B-Main in the Wing Class. Chris Smith, Taylor Courtney, and Austin Mead also transferred into the Wing Class A-Main. Richard Dobbins won the second B- Main in the Non Wing Class. Transferring into the Non Wing A-Main along with Dobbins was Kylee Brown, Max Kramer, and Justin Kernel.
Delphi, IN. racer Kaleb Kinsler (Pictured Left) won the first A-Main of the night in the Junior Class. "It feels awesome to get a win on my first night out in 2011. We won the Junior Dash and the A-Main. This is pretty awesome," Kaleb said about his big night.
Kokomo, IN.native Jared Van Ness finished with another solid second place finish. Third belonged to another Kokomo, IN. racer Kayaleb Bolton. Garrett Jameson and Seth Ireland rounded out the top five in Saturday's 20 lap Junior Feature.
Next up was the big 25 lap Wing Class feature. The Wing Class also drew the Front Row Challenge on Saturday night. Polesitter Randy Shilling and second place starter Blane Culp both declined the Challenge, increasing the Challenge to $80.00 for July 2nd's Non Wing A-Main.
Columbia City, IN. native Blane Culp (Pictured Right) passed Shilling, and never looked back taking the 25 lap Wing Class Special A-Main. After the big win, Culp said, "It felt awesome to win the Special. The $100.00 bonus is nice too. The $100.00 will go toward fuel. It's nice to get a big win, before we head out to Southern Illinois Speedway for their $10,000 to win race here in a couple of weeks."
Shilling held on for second, while third belonged to Tyler Stump. The Wing Class B-Main winner Ryan Leek raced his way to fourth, while Warsaw, IN. racer Braxton Hanft rounded out the top five in Saturday's Wing Class A-Main Special.

Miami County Speedway ran a few laps in Saturday's Senior Class A-Main, but had to stop because of curfew. MCS will be closed the next two weekends due to the Miami County 4-H Fair, but will they are set to host the Miami County 4-H Fair race on Thursday, June 23rd. Due to the curfew, both the Senior A-Main and the Non Wing A-Main will be made up on Saturday, July 2nd, when Miami County Speedway reopens for the remainder of the Summer. Southwick Is New MCS Trophy Queen

PERU,IN.- I would like to congratulate Greenwood, IN. native Anna Southwick (Center) on becoming the newest trophy queen at Miami County Speedway. Severe storms shut down Saturday night's micro sprint racing action halfway through the heat races at Miami County Speedway.
More micro sprint racing action returns to Miami County Speedway next Saturday, June 11th, as we host the Wing Class Special which will include the regular five class feature program. The Wing Class will be racing for double the points and prize money next Saturday.
Racing starts with hot laps at 5:30 PM, with live heat racing action to follow at around 6:00 PM. For more information, check out Miami County Speedway's official website (www.miamicountyspeedway.com). See you at the races!
